DAZN has revolutionized, perhaps forever, the world of sports and sports broadcasting.
The sports channel of Eddie Hearn, which premiered a month ago to broadcast online streaming of different specialties, has reached an agreement with Óscar de la Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions) to broadcast the fights of Mexican boxer Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez .
According to the Marca, the historic agreement is at list a minimum of 365 million dollars for 5 years , in which Canelo Álvarez should engage in 11 fights … and has already requested a rematch from Floyd Mayweather .
With this contract Canelo Alvarez surpass the 325 million dollars for 13 years that Giancarlo Stanton (New York Yankees) signed for the Miami Marlins (MLB) in 2014, so it is officially “the richest contract in the history of sports” (as they have baptized it in United States).
“Canelo Álvarez has signed the highest contract in the history of the sport … and he is very happy”, confessed oscar De la Hoya after signing on ESPN.
The $ 365 (minimum) that Canelo Álvarez will earn for his agreement with DAZN means that the Mexican boxer will pocket 73 million a year, 6 million a month, 1.5 million a week, 217,000 a day, 9,047 an hour, 150 per minutes and 2.5 per second .
“This has come for my hard work, but the most important thing for me is that with this agreement I give fans the opportunity to watch my fights without having to pay 70 or 80 dollars in pay per view,” said Canelo Álvarez.
With this agreement DAZN, which already signed the heavyweight Anthony Joshua, occupies the site of HBO (which has announced that it will stop broadcasting boxing) to retransmit Canelo’s fights.
