Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool betting tips: Premier League preview and odds

January 28, 2021 Off By Oha

Tottenham Hotspur can boost their own Premier League title hopes and further damage those of the defending champions as Liverpool visit north London in a highly anticipated showdown.

Spurs are back in the ascendancy after losing successive games in December and they head into Thursday’s clash unbeaten in eight across all competitions.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have been well below the high standards set over the past two seasons and have tasted victory just once in their last seven outings.Tottenham vs Liverpool betting tips

Tottenham were top of the Premier League and unbeaten in 11 top-flight matches since the opening weekend of the season when they travelled to Liverpool on 16 December.

However, Liverpool claimed a 2-1 victory that took them back to the summit and briefly appeared to dent confidence within the Spurs camp.

Jose Mourinho’s side lost their following match 2-0 at home to Leicester but have bounced back extremely well and are unbeaten since.

Ahead of Thursday’s return fixture, Tottenham are one point and one place behind the Reds with a game in hand and form suggests they will avenge that loss at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have only won twice in eight matches in all competitions since beating Spurs and have failed to score four times during that sequence.

A 3-2 loss at Manchester United in the FA Cup on Saturday suggests an improvement in front of goal and they are likely to register at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But Liverpool have only won two of their nine engagements on the road this season and we expect Tottenham to have the edge overall.

Tip: Spurs win and both teams to score @ 19/4 with SportNationHosts to make fast start

Tottenham have enjoyed plenty of success in front of goal this term, netting 33 times in 18 outings, and 21 of those goals have come in the opening 45 minutes.

It’s no surprise that they have led at the break in seven of their nine fixtures on home soil, going on to win four of those and drawing the remainder.

Spurs haven’t lost a match from a winning position this campaign and that bodes well against a Liverpool side who have only held a half-time lead on one occasion away from Anfield in 2020-21.

Tip: Half-time/full-time – Tottenham-Tottenham @ 17/4 with SportNationStar duo likely to register

Harry Kane and Mo Salah are again enjoying prolific campaigns in front of goal and are contenders for the Golden Boot, which both have won or shared twice before.

Salah currently leads the way, despite Liverpool’s recent lack of goals, with 13 goals, while Kane and his partner Heung-min Son just one behind in a share of second place.

The Egyptian was on target twice in the FA Cup fourth-round defeat by Manchester United last time out and, having scored in the reverse fixture, looks Liverpool’s biggest threat.

Kane has bagged in each of Tottenham’s last three Premier League fixtures and he boasts a decent record against the Reds, scoring six times in 11 top-flight appearances.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that both players are trusted to take penalties and could be handed the opportunity to strike from the spot.

Tip: Kane & Salah both to score @ 5/1 with SportNationTottenham vs Liverpool latest odds

Liverpool are 6/5 favourites to bounceback from their poor form and claim victory over Jose Mourinho’s side. Tottenham are priced at 47/20, whilst a draw is 51/20.
