SHOCKING! Police Declare Former Super Eagles Star Wanted

Reports emanating all the way from Jos has it that the Nigeria Police has declared wanted former Super Eagles player, Benedict Akwegbu.


Investigations reportedly carried out by revealed that the police are searching for Akwegbu so as to come and answer to several allegations of swindling and fraud which he was said to have committed in Jos several months ago.

Akwegbu was alleged to have collected several sums of amount from several sporting administrators in the state with the understanding that he was going to take them to London for a seminar.

In addition to the monies he collected from them he was also said to have collected their International Passports to process visas for them. But unfortunately, several months after he had collected those items Akwegbu is nowhere to be found the report claims.

While in Jos, Akwegbu was employed as the technical director of football with Mighty Jet but has not been on duty since he absconded.

But to the surprise of the men of the Nigeria Police, the former Super Eagles player’s salary has been paid up till date raising the question of who was collecting the money.

To this end, several top officials of Mighty Jets are currently in police net to answer to questions of who was collecting his salaries and who also signed his employment letter as the director of football with Mighty Jets.

Akwuegbu was selected to U-16 World Cup Final squad in 1989 hosted by Scotland. However, he never had the chance to play as sitting on the bench in all four matches without substitution.

Nigeria was beaten by eventual winner Saudi Arabia at the quarter-final stage.

He also played for the U-20 national side.

In 2000, his success in Austria made him joining the Africa Cup of Nations tournament which he played his first international game against Tunisia.

With his progress in the team, he was involved in the 2002 World Cup Qualifier and scoring two goals in the process,

His performance made him selected to the 2002 World Cup Final squad.

He played the only World Cup game against England.
