Sadiq sees red, Moses scores in Moscow

Moses and other Nigerian football player in Europe performed well in this weekend. Kelechi Iheanacho fired blanks in Leicester City’s goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League on Sunday. The Nigerian started ahead of Jamie Vardy, who just returned from a groin injury.

At Old Trafford, Alex Iwobi saw 15 minutes of action as Everton held title hopefuls to a 3-3 draw. The Nigerian international replaced Tom Davies in the 75th minute in what was his 19th EPL appearance.

Ola Aina, Joshua Onomah and Josh Maja were all on the bench as Fulham held 10-man West Ham United to a goalless draw at the Craven Cottage on Saturday. Their compatriots, Ademola Lookman and Tosin Adarabioyo both played 90 minutes.

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi was in action for West Brom, who suffered their 15th loss in the EPL to Tottenham Hotspur in the EPL on Sunday.

In Scotland, Joe Aribo was on for 90 minutes as Glasgow Rangers recorded a fourth league draw of the season in their 1-1 stalemate against Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. His compatriot, Leon Balogun was an unused substitute.

Striker Sadiq Umar was sent off in Almeria’s 1-1 draw against Fuenlabrada. The Nigerian received his first caution in the 30th minute, before being sent off in the 53rd minute for a second bookable offence. He will miss his side’s trip to Las Palmas on Sunday.

Sadiq, who scored five goals in January was voted Player of The Month for January in the Spanish Segunda division.

Ramon Azeez made his debut for Cartagena in their 2-0 win over Real Oviedo, when he came on for Eladio Zorrilla in the 67th minute on Saturday.

The Nigerian joined Cartagena on deadline day in January.

Kenneth Omeruo also played 90 minutes for Leganes, who defeated Girona 2-0 on Saturday. The game was Omeruo’s 12th this season.

In the German Bundesliga, Emmanuel Dennis, Kingsley Ehizibue and Toluwalase Arokodare all featured for Koln in their 2-1 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Rhine Derby on Saturday.

Dennis was replaced by Jan Thielmann in the 58th minute while Ehizubue came off for Benno Schmitz in the 82nd minute. Ondrej Duda was taken off for Arokodare in the 90th minute.

In Turkey, former Nigerian U-23 captain, Azubuike Okechukwu, played all 90 for Istanbul Basaksehir as they fell 1-0 at home to Fatih Karagumruk in the Super Lig on Saturday.

Azubuike was cautioned for a foul in the 84th minute.

Henry Onyekuru played 77 minutes in Galatasaray’s hard-fought 1-0 win over bitter rivals Fenerbahce. The Nigerian was replaced by Muhammed Akturkoglu.

Victor Moses scored a goal for Spartak Moscow in their 4-0 trouncing of Latvian side Riga FC in an international club friendly on Sunday. Moses scored the team’s third goal from the penalty spot in the 84th minute.

Spartak, who have suffered two straight losses in the Russian league, will face Dynamo Moscow in the round of 16 of the Russian Cup on Saturday.
