Emmanuel amuneke lead Tanzania to first AFCONMarch 25, 2019
Emmanuel Amuneke has led the national team of Tanzania to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Tafia Stars thrashed the Cranes of Uganda 3-0. The match held at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam, on Sunday. The result to seal a spot in the Nations Cup for the first time in 39 years.
Goals from Simon Msuwa, Erasto Nyoni and a sublime header from Aggrey Morris secured the win for the hosts.
With the result, Amuneke’s boys finished second in group L with eight points, five behind leaders Uganda. Ugandans had already qualified for the finals.
The other group L fixture between Cape Verde and Lesotho ended goalless.
South Africa also joined Nigeria from Group E, as qualifiers. They defeated Libya 2-1 in Tunisia on Sunday. A brace from forward Percy Tau made Ahmad Benali’s 66th minute strike from a penalty inconsequential. As Bafana Bafana earned a deserved win and a ticket to the AFCON finals.
Emmanuel is former Nigeria international footballer who played for Barcelona in Spain. Amuneke lead Nigeria under 17 football team to lift world cup as an assistant coach. amuneke is among the players that Won Africa cup of Nations cup in 1994 in Tunisia. In fact,he is the one that scored the winning goal against Zambia. The game ended 2:1 in favour of Nigeria.
Amunike is among first Nigerian coach that coached other Africa national team. Christian chukwu started iti Uganda . While,late Stephen keshi followed when he lead Togo to first world cup.
Amunike is also among the first team that lifted Olympic football gold for Nigeria and Africa.
