Ed Woodward Considering Manchester United Legend Edwin Van Der Sar As New Director Of Football

Edwin van der Sar is among the names in the frame to become Manchester United’s new director of football, with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward casting his net far and wide.
The former Dutch goalkeeper has impressed during his time with Ajax and his knowledge of the inner workings at Old Trafford would no doubt be viewed favourably by the club’s hierarchy.
However, Woodward is undertaking an extensive search for the first director of football in the club’s history, according to the Independent.

The failure to land a centre-back particularly irked the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss and he is on board with a restructuring of the club’s hierarchy.
Woodward and Mourinho will both still be involved in the recruiting process, but the director of football will take away the focus on the manager.
Roma’s Monchi and Juventus’ Fabio Paratici are top of United’s wishlist, although they are determined to dig deep and make sure they get the right man.
Van Der Sar is also among the favourites, while even the likes of Novara’s Domenico Teti – who took Mauro Icardi from Barcelona B to Sampdoria.
