Donovan Mitchell Likely Out For Another Week Due to Ankle SprainMay 9, 2021
The Utah Jazz announced this week that Donovan Mitchell will likely be out at least another week for right ankle rehabilitation.
Mitchell sustained the injury three weeks ago after an awkward fall against the Indiana Pacers. He was diagnosed with a severe right ankle sprain.
The All-Star guard was posting career highs of 26.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds for the Jazz, shooting 43.8 percent from the floor and 38.6 percent from the three-point line.
Despite Mitchell missing 11 games, the Jazz has still been able to maintain their spot at the top of the Western Conference. They are currently in a neck-and-neck battle with the Phoenix Suns for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, leading by one game.
Based on the team’s timeline for evaluations, Donovan Mitchell’s possible last chances for regular-season action could be against Oklahoma City on May 14 and the Sacramento Kings on May 16.
