Mikko Rantanen was forced to leave Monday’s game against the St. Louis Blues in the second period with an apparent ankle injury.

The Avalanche said Rantanen would not return to the game because of a lower-body injury.

Rantanen was starting to skate out of the defensive zone when his left skate got caught in the ice turning his left foot sideways. The 22-year-old was in discomfort as he left the ice and went straight to the dressing room.
