Alexandre Song has talked about his delight at joining Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan.
The 28-year-old completed – what is considered a shock move to Kazan – on Wednesday.
The former Arsenal midfielder failed to impress the Barcelona hierarchy and spent the last two seasons on loan at West Ham United. Song, who had another year left on his Barca deal, was expected to complete a permanent switch to the Hammers, but Kazan swooped in.
“I am very happy to be here,” Song told Rubin Kazan TV.
“Yeah I know Rubin Kazan,they are one of the teams that famously beat Barcelona.”
The Cameroon international made 65 appearances for Barcelona, while he played 46 times in all competitions during his time at the Boleyn Ground.
The Tatars finished the 2015-16 season in 10th place.
Rubin Kazan beat Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou in 2009, the La Liga side were holders of the coveted title at the time
